Betsy Skipper
"Painting for me is about observation of the world around me. It is looking at the intrinsic values of light, color and form and seeing how they react together to bring beauty and meaning to an object. It is carefully looking at the intricate details that cause things to appear as they do. It is using paper, pigment and water to create a painting that captures that special moment in them when all those values combine in an object of beauty that touches the heart and soul of the viewer. It is about giving that viewer the pure joy and exhilaration of the beauty of the world around them and to bring back a cherished memory of a place, time or object that is important to them."
